Question: What does laundry have to do with organization? That’s not the first thing I would think of doing if I wanted to get my home organized.
Answer: Laundry was piling up, creating clutter hot spots all over the home, and causing the homeowner undue stress. The last thing she felt like doing at the end of a long day at work, followed by feeding children, etc., was tackling the never-ending piles of laundry.
Before: The laundry area was overflowing with washed clothes, unwashed clothes, and miscellaneous items.
1. Gathered up all the clothes that were lying around the home.
2. Put the washing machine and drier into action: Washed, folded, and sorted all the laundry.
3. Set up individual containers for: laundry detergent; toilet paper (this was the most practical and convenient place to store extra toilet paper); coins; and “Missing Socks.” Added a little trashcan for lint.
4. Added an over-the-door closet valet for clothes that need to be hung up as they come out of the drier.
