What many people don’t realize is that the benefits of my being a professional organizer have nothing to do with being organized. The best thing about being a professional organizer is that I get to meet the most fantastic people and learn more about the world. While you, my clients, hopefully learn a few things about time management and organizing from the time we spend together, from my side, I see myself as the one who gains the most. And this year has been no different. It has been a wonderful year of learning about new things and listening to fascinating stories. I have often found myself saying, “No ways! I had no idea!” Here are some of the thing I didn’t know about when the year started:
- lobster claws (yes, I organized some, but they are probably not what you are thinking they are)
- leech therapy for digit re-implantation is used in hospitals!
- finger limes (which have nothing to do with digit re-implantation – see above)
This year you encouraged me to list my business on Yelp so that more people could find out about my organizing and productivity services. And then you took the time to write the kindest Yelp reviews.
Additional highlights for me included hosting Silicon Valley’s Messiest Kid’s Room Contest, being contacted by Real Simple magazine as an “expert in the field,” and presenting on organization and time management to elementary school children and receiving their lovely thank-you notes.
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for choosing to work with me and for sharing your stories. I am grateful and honored.
