As I was strolling along the beach a few weeks ago, I noticed something that amused me. There were three types of sea birds gathered on the sand and each group had congregated into their own separate group – no mixing and matching: the grey seagulls were grouped together in one group, the white and grey seagulls in another group; and the little sandpipers were in their own little flock. It made me think of the first organizing step I discuss when I first meet with a client in his/her space, “Let’s start by grouping ‘like with like.'”
Nature can certainly teach us a few lessons about organization… except for those crazy squirrels who bury acorns all over our lawn pre-winter time and then spend the entire winter ripping up the lawn trying to find where they have buried their acorns!
I would love to hear your organizing stories that have been inspired by nature!
